My Favorite Clean Beauty Mascaras
Mascara is, next to concealer, a makeup must-have for me. We're always on the hunt for the mascara because, in the end, it's such an individual product and not every mascara works for everyone. It really depends on what you're looking for in a mascara (length, volume, definition, a natural look, dramatic lashes, color) and what you're working with (short, long, straight or curved lashes).
I have been using natural/clean beauty mascaras for many years now, so I tried my fair share and found my two absolute favorite mascaras which I will talk about in this blog post. I don't miss the L'Oréal Volume Million Lashes at all, which used to be my all-time favorite mascara from the drugstore for so many years (this feels like a major throwback right now).
I don't really have complicated eyelashes. They have a natural curve and a regular/normal length I would say. Over the years, I realized that I prefer mascaras with a plastic wand. They grab my lashes much better and give them more definition. A little side note: I started to use an eyelash curler only a few months ago (I know! And no, before that I never used one because I found them a bit scary) and it makes the biggest difference! I highly recommend it to everyone because it opens your eyes much more and any mascara will look better after.
If you follow me on Instagram, the mascaras which I will show you now, won't come as a surprise.
Ilia Beauty Limitless Lash Mascara
I first used this mascara a few years ago, and it's been one of my favorites ever since. It has a dual wand making it perfect to first build up volume with the short bristles and then add length and definition with the longer bristles. I typically use 2-3 coats to get my desired result and I never have any problem with clumping. The formula really holds the curl and is easy to remove at the end of the day. Ilia even says that you can take it off just with warm water but I never tried that. The mascara is so good that it built a cult following in the green beauty space.

Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara + Primer
I've been using this mascara by Honest Beauty only for about a month but I genuinely fell in love with it after first use. Why did it take me so long to finally try it out? What's so special about this mascara is the combination of lash primer and mascara. I never really used lash primers in the past, so I was very curious to see what effect it will have. First, you coat your lashes with the primer and let them dry for about 30 seconds. After that, you use the mascara which has a plastic wand and short bristles, like the Ilia one. As mentioned before, this is perfect for really grabbing your lashes at the root and covering them with color.
I can easily use 2-3 coats with this mascara as well and using the primer before gives you a better effect (more volume and definition). Using the mascara without the primer still gives you a nice result, but I prefer a little more oomph.
A little side note: I only apply mascara on my top lashes, so I cannot really tell you much about smudging. But if you have problems with that, I recommend checking your eye cream or your concealer. It can be that they're too rich for your under-eye area resulting in panda eyes.
